How to Submit

First, you will need to set up a User Account. If you already have set up an account for submitting to the last iHEA Congress, you can skip this step and log in with the same username and password.

Second, login to your account. You will be then taken to the submission page. There you will be able to submit and edit your abstract or session submission until the respective closing dates for submissions.

Session Guidelines

  • Session Proposals are DUE by 15 March 2012 at 23:59 GMT.
  • Session description should not exceed 300 words.
  • In panel sessions, abstracts should not exceed 300 words each. A minimum of 3 abstracts and a maximum of 5 must be included by the session deadline as part of the panel session submission.
  • Sessions are 90 minutes long.
  • The organizers must ensure that they have AGREEMENT from all participants to take part in the session before the proposal is submitted.
  • The Session Organizer will be the main contact with Symposium Organizers for the session.
  • All participants within organized sessions are expected to register and pay by the deadlines listed on the Symposium website.

Session formats

All sessions, regardless of their format, will be 90 minutes long.

Panel presentation: a chaired or moderated session that includes a short introduction, three to five presentations, and at least 45 minutes for discussion, questions and answers.

Fishbowl: a moderated discussion with a panel of five to eight people seated in a circle. Panellists respond briefly to a pre-defined question, and the panellists are then gradually replaced by members of the audience who wish to share their views.

Lightning talks: short presentations that last only a few minutes are given by a series of speakers, then allowing time for moderated discussion, questions and answers.

Workshop: an expert, with or without assistance, provides training on a specific topic, possibly including a hands-on exercise. This is most appropriate for building skills on specific health policy or systems research methodologies, communications or knowledge translation skills.

Roundtable: multiple roundtable presentations taking place at the same time in a room, with seats for eight to ten participants at each table. The chairs and rapporteurs of each roundtable offer a summary of the key points discussed in their roundtable to the larger audience.

  • Individual abstracts are DUE by 1 May 2012 at 23:59 GMT.
  • Individual abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
  • All accepted presenters are expected to register and pay by the deadlines listed on the Symposium website.
